How can I make my pink eye situation a little more confortable til I get into the doctors?

Euphrasia (Eyebright) eye drops several times a day
Eye Massage for blocked tear ducts can open the membrane. Locate the tear duct in the inner corner of each eye. Gently massage in an upward direction toward the nose for one minute. Do this several times per day.
i believe goldenseal is easy to come by. hope this helps you for a bit.

How would I remove hot pink streaks from my hair?
I'm dying hot pink streaks into my blonde (not natural... bleached) hair on Wednesday (I'm going to a music festival in New Orleans and I want to do something crazy to my hair). I will be washing my hair every day (like I normally do) so I know the color will fade some. I work at a place where we're not supposed to have unnatural hair colors and I need it to be gone or almost gone before I get back to work the day after Halloween. Any suggestions on how to do this w/o completely destroying my hair?

If it is caused by a virus you just have to let it runs its course. You will notice a worsening of your symptoms in the first 3 to 5 days and then it should gradually begin to get better.
To treat at home you can use warm compresses gently applied to the eyes 3 to 4 times a day for 10 min. The best thing to do is brew some chamomile tea bags, wring them out, and apply the warm tea bags to your eyes. Chamomile tea will help soothe the itchiness.

Speed Channel has a program called "Pinks" and it refers to car owners drag racing for their vehicle's title, which in California is colored pink and is commonly called a pink slip. In all of the states I have lived in, the car titles are white or green. Hence the tv show is derived by Californians and does not have much reference to other states......

Reply:-Damp tea bags placed on the eyes can ease the discomfort of allergic pink eye. For this boil the tea bags and let them cool before placing them on the infected eye. You can also simply make a little stronger tea and then use an eye cup to hold the lukewarm tea in each eye.
-.Adding a few drops of eyebright tincture to boiled and cooled water and applying it to the infected eye through cotton balls is an effective way to cure pink eye.
-Steep calendula and make a a warm compress to apply to the effected eye.
-Boric acid eyewash may help relieve the discomfort associated with pink eye, as it cleans and soothes the infected eye. Even a warm compress applied to the affected eye can help relieve the discomfort **I have never tried this one, but someone mentioned it***
-Probably the strangest one : pour EVAPORATED MILK in to the affected eye (make sure your use Evaporated Milk NOT condensed. and then apply a warm compress (This was the way my great grandmother would deal with it .
-Boil a salt water solution , saturate cotton balls with solution %26amp; apply to the eye
-Cloth soaked in water, in which chamomile has been boiled, when placed over the affected eye will help clear the infection.
- There is also an over the counter eye drop called ZADITOR.
***BE VERY CAREFULL, PINK EYE IS VERY CONTAGIOUS, was your hands alot, especially when you touch around your eyes.
Reply:Keep wiping it off with a warm wet washcloth when stuff comes out especially in the morning when you wake up...don't touch your eye because you can easily spread it to the other eye and to other people as well. I used eye drops to keep it cleaned out but to some they might sting a little. Eventually you will have to see a doctor and get prescription eye drops to clear it up for good. Stinks not having insurance, I also don't have it.
Reply:eyedrops help, but make sure you wipe off the top for later use so you don't get it again...one time I got pink eye walking down the street and the wind blew up, I tell my kids to look downward when we walk and big vehicles drive by because it blows dirt in your eyes or to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes, I use Opcom A eyedrops because I have allergies, I was once told that if there is an A in the eyedrops that they are meant for allergies

Home treatment for pinkeye will help reduce your pain and keep your eye free of drainage. If you wear contacts, remove them and wear glasses until your symptoms have gone away completely. Thoroughly clean your contacts and storage case.
Cold compresses or warm compresses (whichever feels best) can be used. If an allergy is the problem, a cool compress may feel better. If the pinkeye is caused by an infection, a warm, moist compress may soothe your eye and help reduce redness and swelling. Warm, moist compresses can spread infection from one eye to the other. Use a different compress for each eye, and use a clean compress for each application.
When cleaning your eye, wipe from the inside (next to the nose) toward the outside. Use a clean surface for each wipe so that drainage being cleaned away is not rubbed back across the eye. If tissues or wipes are used, make sure they are put in the trash and not allowed to sit around. If washcloths are used to clean the eye, put them in the laundry right away so that no one else picks them up or uses them. After wiping your eye, wash your hands to prevent the pinkeye from spreading.
After pinkeye has been diagnosed:
Take steps to prevent the spread of pinkeye by following the instructions in the Prevention section of this topic.
Do not attend day care or school or go to work until pinkeye has improved.
If the pinkeye is caused by a virus, the person can usually return to day care, school, or work when symptoms begin to improve, typically in 3 to 5 days. Medicines are not usually used to treat viral pinkeye, so preventing its spread is important. Home treatment of the symptoms will help you feel more comfortable while the infection goes away.

They have a natural remedy by Simalison at any store in the eye care section...that along with just wiping it clean with a warm damp washcloth. Good luck!
Reply:-Damp tea bags placed on the eyes can ease the discomfort of allergic pink eye. For this boil the tea bags and let them cool before placing them on the infected eye. You can also simply make a little stronger tea and then use an eye cup to hold the lukewarm tea in each eye.
-.Adding a few drops of eyebright tincture to boiled and cooled water and applying it to the infected eye through cotton balls is an effective way to cure pink eye.
-Steep calendula and make a a warm compress to apply to the effected eye.

Reply:Keep wiping it off with a warm wet washcloth when stuff comes out especially in the morning when you wake up...don't touch your eye because you can easily spread it to the other eye and to other people as well. I used eye drops to keep it cleaned out but to some they might sting a little. Eventually you will have to see a doctor and get prescription eye drops to clear it up for good. Stinks not having insurance, I also don't have it.
Reply:eyedrops help, but make sure you wipe off the top for later use so you don't get it again...one time I got pink eye walking down the street and the wind blew up, I tell my kids to look downward when we walk and big vehicles drive by because it blows dirt in your eyes or to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes, I use Opcom A eyedrops because I have allergies, I was once told that if there is an A in the eyedrops that they are meant for allergies

Home treatment for pinkeye will help reduce your pain and keep your eye free of drainage. If you wear contacts, remove them and wear glasses until your symptoms have gone away completely. Thoroughly clean your contacts and storage case.
Cold compresses or warm compresses (whichever feels best) can be used. If an allergy is the problem, a cool compress may feel better. If the pinkeye is caused by an infection, a warm, moist compress may soothe your eye and help reduce redness and swelling. Warm, moist compresses can spread infection from one eye to the other. Use a different compress for each eye, and use a clean compress for each application.
When cleaning your eye, wipe from the inside (next to the nose) toward the outside. Use a clean surface for each wipe so that drainage being cleaned away is not rubbed back across the eye. If tissues or wipes are used, make sure they are put in the trash and not allowed to sit around. If washcloths are used to clean the eye, put them in the laundry right away so that no one else picks them up or uses them. After wiping your eye, wash your hands to prevent the pinkeye from spreading.
After pinkeye has been diagnosed:
Take steps to prevent the spread of pinkeye by following the instructions in the Prevention section of this topic.
Do not attend day care or school or go to work until pinkeye has improved.

I am planning my wedding and I decided on the colors light pink and black. Anyone have ideas on how to make the reception decor look elegant without looking tacky and thrown together? Should I leave out the pink and just use black and white?

As far as decorating the reception site, the table were covered in white linen. I added a large black square of fabric to the center of each table, it was very cheap, DIY from Joann Fabric store. As centerpieces, we used large glass hurricanes with candles, and scattered rose petals on the tables alond with some silver and glass beads. This looked great on top of the black satin fabric squres, oh, the hurricanes were on top of square mirrors as well. The head table had four large rose arrangenments in tall glass cylinders. I covered the cylinders in black fabric, and trimmed it with a wide silver ribbon around the middle. If I weren't so dense, I would figure out a way to post pictures for you!! Anyway, the result was pure elegance on a budget. Roses can get very pricey, I arranged my own with the help of my sister and her mother-in-law. I purchased them from a website, http://www.freshroses.com/ and I can't tell you enough how I happy I was with them. They have a section on wedding flowers, their customer service is great, and their prices really can't be beat. Edit: BTW bob shark is right in that the plastic will not meet fire code, but from a redneck point of view...........

Also baby shampoo is totally tear free and if you use a little to clean your eye lighty the pink eye will go away, but it is always best to do this with medication from the doctors. I have 2 kids and have had countless animals and have used the baby shampoo on all of them and have used it in the health care field for 15 yrs. It sounds funny but it works.

This is an original idea that will look stunning.
Step One- Get some white posterboard and make a long strip that goes from floor to ceiling in your room...and is one foot wide.
Step Two- Go to the scrapbook store and buy enough paper to cover the poster board and make a 'background' for the art that you are going to add to the front of the paper.... the paper should be a design that is the same all over the paper with no busy lines or wild looking stuff. Maybe small flowers on colored paper.... something like that.
Step Three- Find old calendars with flowers, birds, and butterflies on each month. Cut out the individual flowers, birds, and butterflies. Glue down the flowers first... then add birds and butterflies here and there on the design. To really add some depth and drama... go to the Dollar Stores and find fake vines and staple it to the paper BEFORE you add the flowers, birds, and butterflies. You could even put small fake flowers on there. THEN add the birds and butterflies.....
Step Four:
Add a decorative border of either wood or paint to the edge of the artwork. A whispy fabric would look nice.... sort of like a curtain that opens and shows the beautiful scene.
You can really go all out with this theme... add cute little bird houses and sprays of pretty flowers in the room.

It gets some of the pink out, but not all of it. If you consistantly wash with Oxyclean and Era, it does eventually fade out over time. Otherwise, good luck.
One thing I did learn, is Tommy Hilligger clothes, especially red, always bleed in the wash. So if you own any of that brand be extra careful.

How should i paint my room, the colors are hot pink and black?
My room is white, and i hate it! I was thinking checkered bored with hot pink and black checkered, or hot pink walls with black splattered and a celling with black and hot pink splattered. On the black walls put up a few hot pink things (framed pics/shelves/other decorations) and do the same to the pink wall (put up black things on it)...would prob look really cool.

Powerful colors, like black and hot pink, should be used sparingly so that their impact will be felt. If they are the main colors, they won't have the same effect. One wall in hot pink and/or one in black would add the punch you are looking for, without overpowering the room. One option which uses both colors on one wall is to do a chair rail. Paint the bottom 30 to 36 inches black and paint the rest hot pink. The height of the "chair rail" will depend on whether you want the black to just touch the bottom of the windows or go higher or lower than the window sill. It is very important that the more powerful color, black, is at the bottom. If you don't, the room may feel unbalanced, which is almost as bad as bland white walls.

Today i noticed that my cat could not open his eye and around the outside it was a salmon pink color. so i looked it up and i think it is pink eye. If the black of your hair is dye use a color remover is more gentle than the bleach if is natural use bleach w/40 vol peroxide as soon as you achieve a pale yellow shampoo it then apply the hair color (pink) w/10 vol peroxide, if you want it permanent I recommend you pravana hair color.

My daughter has pink eye and we are having trouble cleaning the crusties off her eyelashes any help?
My daughter (6 yr old) has been diagnosed with pink eye her eyes get really mucky and crusty and we keep soaking face clothes in warm water and washing them but the crusties just don't want to come off. Does any one have any ideas?

Hi,, pink eye is so hard on children. I'm so sorry your daughter is having to go thru this. OK, I'm of the older generation,, and way back when they didn't make eye makeup remover,, so we always used baby oil. It doesn't burn your eyes,, and it kept your lashes soft. If you put just a few drops of baby oil,,, on your warm wet rag, when you wipe your daughters eyes, the oil would soften up those old crusties,, and it wouldn't be long until they would come right off. And the good thing about baby oil, is that it would stay on your daughters lashes, and would keep the rest from getting so hard. And yes, pink eye is very contagious,, but the antibiotics, on your daughters lashes, will also , stay put longer. This would not spread it to the other eye, and won't keep her from getting better Hope this helps

The doctor told me to get a cotton Q-Tip, place it in warm water, and then put a drop of Johnson's Baby Shampoo on it. Then , GENTLY wash the base of the eyelashes, and give it a few minutes to loosen the crust which is coating the lashes. The mild soapy water will not irritate the eye if it gets in, and the soap will usually loosen the crusty buildup.
Then, when they have dried, your doctor will have prescribed an opthalmic ointment or eyedrops that has an antibiotic in it to kill the infection. You can insert or put on the medicine in the cleaned eye per his instructions.
The buildup on the lashes is tough to remove while the infection is causing a discharge out of the eye. Hot water compresses are only partially successful. And rubbing the eyelids too hard, especially with children, will cause more discomfort, and can even pull out the lashes if you try to remove the crust by force.
Just remember: use the Q-Tip when it is wet, not dry, and wash your own hands thoroughly with a good brand of antibiotic soap when through, because conjunctivitis is highly infectious. you don't want to re-use any towel or cloth after cleaning an infected eye. And do not use the same Q-tip from one eye to the other, for the same reason. Use another clean one before repeating the steps on the other eye. But also, remember to wash your hands thoroughly between doing this from one eye to the other, as it will only help to spread the infection otherwise.

P.S.: to the poster above. No, pink is not a lighter shade of purple. Pink is a lighter shade of red. The pinks we're used to, especially the pink used in the razor, is a tad on the cool side. But if you took purple paint and added a lot of white, you would get a very light purple, not pink.

Why is pink chicken bad but pink duck good?
Why is it that you are not allowed to eat pink chicken but pink duck is OK?
This confuses me because they are both poultry and I thought that all poultry should be thoroughly cooked?

chicken can contain salmonella, whereas duck does not contract it. Its not a good idea to eat any meat undercooked, its a risk you take. Even with beef! I eat my duck slightly underdone, because its more tender that way.

What goes well witn a small light blue and a pink bathroom? Help?
I have some decoration problem. I have a tiny light blue and white(tiled) bathroom with a stand up shower that needs to be decorated. I also have a slightly bigger bathroom that needs decorations and that one is pink(tiles) with a regular tub. What can i do to these bathrooms to make them look nice?
What deorations would go well with them and what other colors would stand out with the tile colors? Please help!
I need all the advice i can get.

I think I would add celery or sage green paint accents to the blue and white bath to warm it up some. Pittsburgh Paints has a nice one called "Herbal Tea" and Behr has "Sage Sweater". If you don't like that idea, go with a chocolate or mocha shade.
In the pink bathroom, you could also use the mocha or chocolate shades or even yellow if you want a more cheerful, fun look. Find a shower curtain with some pink in it and pick another shade in the curtain to use on the walls and for towels and accessories.
Black and White would look good in either bath too. Check out "Bed, Bath and Beyond" website, one called Rosewood by Nicole Miller might work. At Target.com check out "Shadow Vine", "Rickrack" and "Orofino".

b] add burgundy rugs, sink accessories, etc.

I think of blue, white %26amp; touches of sunny yellow with the beach - (maybe Cape Cod?)..... And, lime green is a very trendy combination with the pink. If you don't want to go as wild as lime green, chocolate brown with light and dark pink would be nice (especially if a man will also be using the bathroom - makes it more "manly") ...

You can create a piece of artwork that has the colors in the room as well as some other colors and use those colors in towells, candles, etc. With the blue bathroom you could do a natural feel. Browns, green, blue, etc. Get some wicker baskets, a fountain, neutral color candles, etc.
Reply:You could keep it simple and decorate with the towels and shower curtain. For the pink bath, how about a white curtain with small pink and red flowers, and pink and red towels. The blue bath could have dark blue and white towels.
Keep it simple and it will feel larger and elegant.
