How can I best incorporate the colors pale pink and black into my wedding?

I am planning my wedding and I decided on the colors light pink and black. Anyone have ideas on how to make the reception decor look elegant without looking tacky and thrown together? Should I leave out the pink and just use black and white?

How can I best incorporate the colors pale pink and black into my wedding?
While black and white is very classy, it can become a little boring without any other colors. If you want, you can always do black, white and pink to use all three. Incorporate the colors into your linens, you flowers, and your bridal party's attire. Black dresses with a pink or white sash are very classy.
Reply:I am using these exact colors!

I am putting pink in:

Bridesmaids bouquets

Ribbon around the cake layers

Ribbon/bows on wedding favors

Pink napkins to go with my cake

Pink rose petals for flower girl

Pink rose petals surrounding my wedding cake

Flower girl dress (with white)

Pink ties for groomsmen

Pink corsage/boutonniere flowers

Centerpiece flowers (with white)

Punch for the cake

Putting black in:

Chair sash

Grooms cake napkins

Bridesmaids dresses

Grooms/men tux

Favor boxes

Ribbon tied around invitations

White:

My bouquet

My dress

Grooms shirt/tie/vest

Table cloths

centerpiece flowers (with pink)

Candles

Invitations (with black ribbon)

These are just some of my things! I think the colors look wonderful. I also thought maybe just black and white, and then realized that there wasn't a color to make anything pop or elegant besides black. I am also having a summer evening wedding and wanted to make sure to incorporate some type of color from the outdoors and pull it in. If I think of other things I will come back and add them to my answer. Have a lovely wedding!
Reply:Just don't over use the pink. Make sure there is an even balance of both colors. I would do something like black bridesmaid's dresses w/ pink accents (or just leave them solid black) I would use bouquets of matching, yet complementing pink flowers (roses are wonderful).

For the reception, I would use pink in the centerpieces, but not too much. Personally, I don't like a lot of flowers as the centerpiece. It actually seems like you are trying too hard (and trying too hard=tacky) I would do candles w/ a simple flower arrangement or floating candles with pink rose petals.

Here are some classy ideas:

Reply:Pink is lovely, and I think using different shades of pink would look beautiful, not just pale pink. Use black as a very MINOR accent, though, along with the white.
Reply:Use stripes to make these colors pop out. It will look very classy. Stripes.
Reply:you could see if you can find some black dresses with pink sashes or trim?

than the girls can carry some pink and white flowers.. maybe tie it up with a black ribbon?
Reply:You can do a lot.

Use small petal flowers in vases on your tables/ center pieces.

Black tablecloth, chair covers, pink napkins, tie backs

Place settings of pink written and diecorated in black.
Reply:The easiest way to keep things looking elegant is to use black and white for everything, and use pink for flowers. I wanted a very classy, clean looking wedding (think Audrey Hepburn). My colors were the same as yours, except I used red instead of pink. The only place I used red was in the flowers. My flowers were Black Magic roses (a very dark red). I used only the roses, no filler flowers, or additional greenery. My bridesmaids wore black dresses and carried the roses. The groomsman wore black tuxes, with pewter (dark gray/silver) vests and ties. Their boutonnieres were a single red rose. As far as decorating the reception site, the table were covered in white linen. I added a large black square of fabric to the center of each table, it was very cheap, DIY from Joann Fabric store. As centerpieces, we used large glass hurricanes with candles, and scattered rose petals on the tables alond with some silver and glass beads. This looked great on top of the black satin fabric squres, oh, the hurricanes were on top of square mirrors as well. The head table had four large rose arrangenments in tall glass cylinders. I covered the cylinders in black fabric, and trimmed it with a wide silver ribbon around the middle. If I weren't so dense, I would figure out a way to post pictures for you!! Anyway, the result was pure elegance on a budget. Roses can get very pricey, I arranged my own with the help of my sister and her mother-in-law. I purchased them from a website, http://www.freshroses.com/ and I can't tell you enough how I happy I was with them. They have a section on wedding flowers, their customer service is great, and their prices really can't be beat. If your skeptical, they even have a rose test bunch you can order that includes many different types of roses they have available so you can check out colors and their quality. I hope this helps, and I hope you have a beautiful wedding!!

EDIT:

My cake was frosted white (smooth) with a black ribbon at the bottom of each layer. Instead of a tradional cake topper, I gave my cake designer roses that she arranged on the top layer.
Reply:Pink and black are gorgeous together and would make beautiful decorations!! For the reception decor, it really depends on your budge. If you don't have much money, you can do the centerpieces yourself! Go to a dollar store or wal-mart and buy medium sized square vases (clear glass). Buy a good glue in the craft department. Buy ribbon in light pink, black, and 1 pink shade that is slightly darker than the light pink. On the vases, glue a strand of the light pink ribbon then the black ribbon and then the other pink ribbon. Fill the vase with clear marbles or black river stones. your florist can then put water in them and fill each with various colors of pink flowers. They will look GREAT on the tables.
Reply:You could have all pink flowers, different kinds, or even all roses and black table cloths. There are many ways to incorporate pink and black with out looking tacky. You can even have the bridesmaids wear black. Don't be afraid to do what you want, it's your wedding.
Reply:The simplest of things can be done. By using pale pink flowers or candles or even balloons at the wedding and the reception for center pieces. Using black ribbon and white accents....or even black table cloths and having that pale pink centerpiece with white ribbon. There are many ways that you can incorporate pale pink into a wedding...from the dresses to the color of your shoes to anything you might put in your hair. go for it...I think it'd be beautiful!!!
Reply:I would have loved loved LOOOOOVED to have done a pink and black wedding. heres some pictures that i found. Hope they help
