How should i paint my room, the colors are hot pink and black?

My room is white, and i hate it! I was thinking checkered bored with hot pink and black checkered, or hot pink walls with black splattered and a celling with black and hot pink splattered. This would be my first time painting my room, but i dont know how i would b able to paint it checkered. If you have any ideas of how i could checkered it or if i should just splatter paint on the other, please tell me. I'm painting it this weekend. THANK YOU!

Checkers are a pain in the butt...dont attempt it. I think maybe do 2 walls black and 2 walls hot pink (alternating sides of course). On the black walls put up a few hot pink things (framed pics/shelves/other decorations) and do the same to the pink wall (put up black things on it)...would prob look really cool.
Reply:Both checkers and splatters are very difficult to achieve, especially on the ceiling. It would be better to leave the ceiling and two or three walls white. Powerful colors, like black and hot pink, should be used sparingly so that their impact will be felt. If they are the main colors, they won't have the same effect. One wall in hot pink and/or one in black would add the punch you are looking for, without overpowering the room. One option which uses both colors on one wall is to do a chair rail. Paint the bottom 30 to 36 inches black and paint the rest hot pink. The height of the "chair rail" will depend on whether you want the black to just touch the bottom of the windows or go higher or lower than the window sill. It is very important that the more powerful color, black, is at the bottom. If you don't, the room may feel unbalanced, which is almost as bad as bland white walls.
Reply:you can paint your room with the base black and then you can paint hot pink squares with a square sponge.
Reply:black will be depressing as a major color, i would add white to your combo.

paint the whole room black, paint one whole wall white. (to brighten up the room, pick one opposite a window, leave the ceiling white too (make sure its a nice clean fresh gloss white)

then go to work splattering the black walls with the white paint, heavily, and accent it with the pink.

thats how i would do it.

checkers can be done with paintes masking tape, but its very time intensive...not suggestable
Reply:do like 2/3 pink of one wall and the rest of it black

i dont know if you know what im talking about
