Would hot pink be too overwhelming for a smallish room(with big white furniture)?any other ideas?

i want to work with a pink/purple sort of theme which would be appropriate for a teen girl and last her through her teens. ideas and advice would be appreciated. nothing should take more than 1-2 wks to do. thanks.

Hot pink should be an accent, not a dominant colour.

You are going to get so sick of that pink, or purple.

Go with an opalescent pink/purple pastel. The get some crepe or chiffon, or similar fabrics and create a faux canopy over your bed and dress the windows in the same fabric. Those fabric colours could be bright, or alternate. Add some jewel tone throw pillows and accents and you're done.
Reply:It would be pretty. Maybe put some kind of trim about 6" below ceiling height all around the room and paint the trim and everything above in white. Also the baseboard and door trims in white.
Reply:I think that the hot pink would be to much and pink and purple alone are to little girly.Go to Pbteen.com and and check out the surfer girl, wild flower and chain of dots, they all have pink in them. For a more funky teen room go to Teensthemes.com
Reply:Sounds lovely!
Reply:When my daughter was young we did her room in pinks and lavender. It was so pretty! We used white lace for the curtains and bedspread. I say go for it. It sounds so pretty. Enjoy
Reply:hot pink? i like light pink
Reply:sure the pink/purples will look great but use it minimally and you can not just use it on the walls but on the furnishings as well... you can have alternate stripes - white-pink-white-purple-white-pink..... painted on the walls so that it does not look too feminine or she may be bored of it later... use tiny pink floral prints on bed linen and for the curtains again repeat the florals, but of larger size... also use some metallic elements... maybe a stanless steel flower vase etc... that will give the room a contemporary feel...
