What does it mean if the power steering fluid if overflowing with a pink foamy liquid?

I have a 94 Ford Crown Vic and the power steering fluid is out, but I try to fill it up and it just overflows with some sort of pink foamy liquid coming out. It seems like it is cloged because nothing is getting through. Any idea what the liquid may be and how to flush it out?

Power steering fluid should not foam. If it's overflowing, it sounds like it is overfilled.
Reply:Sounds like air in the fluid, especially if the pump has been replaced when the problem started. With the cap off the pump, try slowly turning the steering wheel from full left to right turn several times with the car parked to purge any trapped air from the fluid. Make sure to fill only to the cold or hot fill lines on the dipstick.
Reply:the pink foamy liquid is transmission fluid with a load of air bubbles in it. have leak fixed asap. trans fluid is used by many manufacturers as power steering fluid.
Reply:Good chance it has had water (Condensation) get into it as that is usually how you foam to pink - red tranmission fluid - which is what most Power steering fluid is.

You could try 'flushing' (Remove and dump) it all out and replacing it with clean fluid.
Reply:It sounds like you have a leak and air is some how getting in the system. It could be a leak that is not very noticable so have it checked out by a professional.
Reply:Make sure it is looked at by a professional or at least someone very good at cars. You could end up in a life threatening situation if the car malfunctions when you are driving.
