There is this pink tissue like stuff puffing out around my dogs eye. What should I do?

I have a German Shepard. She is 10 years old. Her eye has this puffy pink like tissue puffing out around her eyeball. It is just on one eye. She doesn't act like it is hurting her, but it looks really bad. Her eyeball is not popping out, just some tissue. What should I do?

Call your vet.
Reply:Sounds to me like Cherry Eye. Not too common in GSD's but still possible.

She needs a trip to the vet for some meds to clear it up.
Reply:could be cherry eye, vet now
Reply:I would definitely take her to the vet. You don't want to take chances with an eye. There a couple different possibilites- could be a conjunctivitis, but i'd expect it to be irritating and have some discharge. Could be "Cherry Eye" where the gland that produces tears has actually ruptured out and will either need to be put back into place or removed completely. Or it could be something more serious like a tumor or laceration. In any case- a trip to the vet is definitely in order.
Reply:take her to the vet....i hope shes ok. shes kinda old too.
Reply:Have you thought about taking her to the vet? That would be MY first choice!
