What does my little girl find so appealing about the color pink?

My daughter seriously wants it everywhere. In her room, wearing pink clothes, etc. It is her favorite color. Why does she like it so much?

Supposedly pink is a color that engenders a feeling of calm and wellbeing. I have heard that in some prisons, they paint the walls pink for that reason.





Just like restaurants have red decor cuz red stimulates your appetite.





Don't make a big deal about it. I love purple and in high school I died all my underwear purple!
Reply:might just be her personal make up to love that color everyone has a favorite color. someone might have told her that girls wear pink. but honestly if they dont know anybetter they just dont care. i know a little girl raised with all boys and shed rather have blue and play with spiderman and g i joe...its a nature vs nurture question i suppose....
Reply:pink is a soothing comforting color - many institutions paint walls pink because it calms people. i think almost all little girls go through a phase when they are pink head to toe and everything in their world needs to be pink - they phase out and sometimes it is oh so sad when they do, my friend when she decided she didn't like pink anymore started just wearing jeans and t shirts - no more girly things. so just go with it - it is great and it is very girly .

Most girls like purple or pink. I have 2 girls and they like green and blue. Go figure.
Reply:As an adult...i too love the color pink. It makes me happy. However, i think society has pushed that along with girlie clothing, girlie dolls, girlie toys. Almost everything for girls is pastel colors like the rainbow. Nothing wrong with it either. Why do boy colors have to be associated with dark and drab? Red, navy, dark green....? It's back to society and what they think is boy stuff/color and what is girl colors. If you are a tom boy...you'll want your daughter to be like you and dislike anything that reminds you of barbie dolls. I think kids should be exposed to all colors...and let them pick. When they get older...they will be opinionated. I also think kids tend to follow their parents role....

Reply:My little girl is pink crazy too. Dont be botherd by it girls like pink its appealing to them. Look at Barbie, or the disney princesses everything is pink. She will grow out of it i assure you. By the way I like pink too. Its a happy color.

Reply:Did you ever look around at the girl's clothing %26amp; accesories department at any store? They are bombarded by pink! Marketing works even on young children's minds. If those departments suddenly went yellow, she would then like yellow.
Reply:Everything that is made to appeal to little girls comes in the color pink. Barbie, baby dolls, stuffed animals, boxes that little girl toys come in, they are all pink. It is very common for a lot of little girls to be quite "gushy" about things they love, including their favorite color. My youngest daughter is now 9 - she is quite the little tomboy and now says she "hates" pink and anything with flowers. Give her a BB gun and a fishing pole and she is happy. Her room was pink when she was a baby, but now it's yellow. It is nothing to worry about, let her have pink whenever she wants. She'll probably grow out of it and move on to purple as being her favorite - that is what all the little girls I know did.

Reply:because she associates it with being a girl, and little girls want to be girly. It's a cute colour and very feminine. It's learned behaviour, it's nothing biological.
Reply:Of course a lot of girls are going to like the color pink. When I was little I loved the color green because that was the color of my birthstone. Then all of sudden my dad and mom kept buying a lot of pink things. Watches, shirts, jackets, ect... But that is just a main color a girl loves. I love that color to death.

Reply:My guess would be it is a pretty color. A lot of little girls like the color pink. Purple is another big one with girls. So are almost any pastel colors. My girls both go for pink when choosing out their own clothes in the morning and also in the store.
