What is that pink stuff on my cream cheese?

I just bought a brand new tub of cream cheese. The expiration is not until months later. When I opened it, I saw a few small spots of pink stuff on it. I ignored it thinking it was something from the manufacturers. Today when I opened it, the whole surface was covered with pink spots! Should I be grossed out?!? What on earth is this pink stuff? Some unique cream cheese mold?

What is that pink stuff on my cream cheese?
Hmmm...Well if you have a flavored cream cheese it might be spots they add to enhance flavor. But I think it is mold, so I would throw it away-just to be safe.
Reply:You don't have to throw the whole thing away. Just scoop off the part with the mold and eat the rest. No biggie.
Reply:i bet its expired
Reply:Mold.

Take it back to your grocery store and ask for a replacement.
Reply:Is it fuzzy? it might be mold! contact the company!
Reply:it is probably mold
Reply:DON'T EAT IT!!!!! I ate cheese once that had coloured spots on it and it turned out to be mold. : ) my mom didn't know and made me eat the whole thing!!! I never let her live it down
Reply:It is mold - the tub of cream cheese probably got left on a shelf somewhere in the grocery store and someone eventually put it back in the refrigerated section. That is why it grew the mold even though it hasn't expired yet. Also the fact that it had a few spots at first, and then grew more... yup - mold. Take it back or toss it.
Reply:It's mold. Return the tub to the place you bought it and get a new tub of cream cheese. I know that is a really wierd pink ... I did 'mold experiments' with my kids, and the mold on cream cheese is a very VIOLENT pink, almost 'magenta' ...
Reply:Return it and yell at the store employees. Chances are it was unrefrigerated for awhile. Don't eat it, you'll get food poisoning and the worst stomach arch of your life!
